Area Germanophiles will be celebratingOktoberfest Meets Morgantownfrom 1-5 p.m. that day.
West Virginia University German faculty, WVU German Club members, and Morgantown-area German teachers and students are coordinating the event to mark the start of a community-building initiative to bring togetherfriends of German.
The event is for people of all ages who value the German language and cultures,said Deborah Janson, associate professor of German in WVU s Department of Foreign Languages.
There will be a variety of games and activities for children and adults, including a soccer match between students and teachers, a puppet show, and German music and food, Janson said.
There will also be a raffle, with the proceeds going toward supporting studentsparticipation in WVU study abroad programs to German-speaking countries, she added.
The event is free, although donations are welcome, Janson said.
