West Virginia University Press Intellectual Property and Public Relations Manager Stephanie Grove will serve on the American Association of University PressesCopyright Committee.

This is the first time that an employee of the WVU Press has been asked to join one of AAUP s committees.

The AAUP is the primary professional association that represents and brings together academic publishers throughout the country, representing almost all university presses. It is dedicated to supporting creative and effective communications between its members.

Grove began working for the WVU Press as an undergraduate student intern during her senior year. She has continued to work for the Press while earning her law degree from WVU s College of Law.

It has been a great joy watching her grow professionally, said Dr. Patrick W. Conner, director of the WVU Press.Talents that weve seen develop here in the office are now being recognized nationally, and I know that she will be a very important member of this committee.

The Copyright Committee of AAUP provides information and reports to member publishers on all issues pertaining to copyright. The Internet and other digital media outlets have complicated matters of copyright beyond expectation, and the committee provides support to smaller publishers, like the WVU Press, in need of advice on such matters, as well as forging policy statements for the association at large.

I am honored that Ive been asked to serve on this committee, and I look forward to working with the other members on many issues facing todays university press,Grove said.

Grove has begun working with the committee and will continue to do so for at least one year.
