The West Virginia University Press will release nature enthusiast Jim Minicks bookFinding a Clear PathThursday, July 21. The piece is a compilation of essays that unites Appalachian literature with an appreciation of nature while exploring myriad organisms from southern pine beetles and monarchs to the willows and hemlocks.

To publicize the release of his book, Minick has planned several appearances at bookstores and libraries throughout the region. He will also appear at the West Virginia Book Festival in Charleston Oct. 23.

Minick has been a great author to work with and has been integral in planning the publicity of his book,said WVU Press Public Relations Director Stephanie Grove.

While Minick has been busy scheduling appearances, his essays have also garnered national attention. A regular column writer for The Roanoke Times New River Valley Current , Minick and his essays have always been Virginia and southeast favorites. However, his work is now spreading beyond the region, and one of his essays was recently published in the San Francisco Chronicle .
