Area media are invited to the Big Splash at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at the new pool at WVU Jackson’s Mill State 4-H Camp, Jackson Mill Road, near Weston.

More than 500 donors and 4-H members from throughout West Virginia will participate in the dedication program honoring the thousands who contributed to the”Save Our Pool”campaign. Private donations totaling $420,000 helped fund the $700,000 project.

Among those being honored are John and Bonnie Shott of the Hugh I. Shott Jr. Foundation, Bluefield, which gave both the largest gift and the largest foundation gift; Bob Orndorff of Dominion Resources Services Inc., West Virginia, which gave the largest corporate gift; and Stan and Virginia Hostler, Charleston, who gave the largest individual gift.

The casual reception begins at 4 p.m., followed by the dedication program at 4:30 p.m.

The traditional ribbon-cutting will be replaced by a”mass splash-in”organized by 4-H members attending the annual Alpha II 4 -H Camp, which is being held all week at WVU Jackson’s Mill. Campers did not have a pool in 2003 and 2004.

The beef barbecue picnic begins at 5:30 p.m. in the picnic pavilion across from the pool.

In case of rain, the dedication program will be held in the pavilion.
