Popular local cover band Jr. Pez will headline Spring Fling Sunday, April 17, at Hazel Ruby-McQuain Riverfront Park, West Virginia University student leaders announced today (April 5).

Spring Fling, a student-organized event, gets under way at 4 p.m. and will feature an all-star student line-up, from step performers and Greek air band finalists to Residence Hall Association Talent Show winners and Mountaineer Idol finalists, said D.J. Casto, student body president.

Summit Hall, RHA , Alpha Omicron Pi and other student organizations will set up game and information booths to raise money for local charities, he added, and U92 will broadcast live from the park throughout the day.

Jr. Pez, a favorite with the college crowd, will perform at 8 p.m. Casto said the band plays different genres of music and will appeal to most students.

“As the semester winds down, we wanted to have one last get-together before we go our separate ways,”said Mary Brys, Student Government Association event coordinator.”Students are invited to spend an afternoon in the park enjoying the warm weather and great entertainment.”

General admission is free to WVU students. Food and beverage items will be available at a low cost from local restaurants.

Students may walk to the park with their friends, Brys said, or they are welcome to ride one of the University buses for free. Buses will run every few minutes between the Evansdale and Downtown campuses, from 3:30 p.m. through the end of the event.

Spring Fling is sponsored by Coca-Cola and U92 .
