West Virginia University students, faculty, staff and alumni will greet lawmakers Tuesday, March 22, in Charleston as part of WVU Day at the state Capitol.

Representatives from WVU s 13 schools and colleges, regional campuses, research, academic and health care units will be on hand from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., promoting the wide-reaching impact that the states flagship university has on the people of West Virginia.

WVU continues to extend its reach throughout the state on many levels, said Steve Douglas, president and chief executive officer of the WVU Alumni Association, one of the groups organizing the activities.

With new programs, expanding research opportunities and economic activity, it is important to share with lawmakers and citizens of West Virginia the wonderful things happening at WVU , and WVU Day is a great way to do that,Douglas added.

WVU student leaders will also be there to promote higher education. In the fall of 2003, students organized a statewide group, Students for Higher Education, and have been an active voice for favorable higher education legislation.
