A woman who heads the Greater Cleveland YWCA will talk about success for women in business at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, on the West Virginia University downtown campus.
Barbara J. Danforth, executive director of the YWCA of Greater Cleveland, will speak onWomen in Leadershipin Room 459 of the Business and Economics Building. The talk is free and open to the public, with a reception following.
In her nine years, Danforth has helped revitalize the YWCA of Greater Cleveland and made it relevant to the needs of women at all stages and places in their lives.
She was named a 2004 Rainmaker by Northern Ohio Live Magazine, a 2004 finalist for the Athena Award presented by Inside Business Magazine and a 2004 Status of Women Award winner by Top Ladies of Distinction Inc.s Greater Cleveland Chapter.
She serves as a member of the board of directors and executive committee of United Way Services of Greater Cleveland and president of its Council of Agency Executives.
Danforth frequently lectures at corporations and universities about women in leadership and gender differences in the workplace.
She earned a sociology degree from Eastern Michigan University and a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
She is a former prosecuting attorney.
