West Virginia University students are invited to spend an afternoon in the park enjoying great food, live entertainment and warm weather at the Spring Fling extravaganza.
Festivities begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Ruby McQuain Park on the Waterfront with a local, popular band taking the stage at 8 p.m.
Proposed by the Student Government Association Public Relations Team,Spring Fling focuses on boosting student morale for the latter half of the semester, said SGA Event Coordinator Karrah Smith. The month following spring break tends to drag until finals week. To break free from this down time, students can collectively celebrate the warm weather and completion of another school year by attending this event.
The entertainment line-up includes performances from air bands, Step Show finalists, Mountaineer Idol contestants and winners of the Residence Hall Association Talent Show. U92 , WVUs student radio station, will broadcast live from the park.
Student groups that want to provide air band performances or set up game and information booths to raise money for local charities should contact Erin Blake in Student Organization Services, 304-293-4397, by Friday, April 1.
As the semester winds down, we wanted to have one last get-together before we go our separate ways, said Mary Brys, SGA event coordinator. This event will allow students to celebrate the warm season and another year of academic success.
Admission is free. Local restaurants and vendors will offer food and beverages at an affordable cost.
In addition, transportation will be provided throughout the afternoon and evening by the Morgantown Trolley, Mountain Line buses and WVU buses.
Spring Fling is sponsored by Coca-Cola. More information about the event will be publicized as the event approaches.
