Members of West Virginia Universitys Cycling Club are taking their favorite sport from the mountain trails to the Mountainlair this week to raise money for The Shack Neighborhood House.

From 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, and Thursday, Feb. 24, they will hold a Spinathon in theLair commons area. As many as four riders will bike at a time, and there will be a raffle for gift certificates donated by local businesses, said president Gef Moy.

The clubs goal is to raise $500 for The Shack, a Pursglove community center providing year-round recreational, educational and social programs for area children, teens and families.

The WVU Cycling Clubmade up of students, faculty, staff and community membersplans community projects, does trail maintenance, and organizes group rides and social activities.

Several of its 40 members are also part of WVU s racing team which represents the University in the Atlantic Coast Cycling Conference and on the national level. The team races mountain bikes in the fall and road bikes in the spring, and it hosts two mountain bike race weekends, one in early September and Conference Championships in mid-October.

WVU s racing team has won the ACCC mountain bike championships for the past five years.
