Besides SGA president and vice president, 15 seats are up for grabs on the student Board of Governors and two on the Athletic Council, said Jeff Gudzune, elections chair. Other officers will be appointed.

Campaigning officially begins Friday, Feb. 11, with a candidate forum tentatively scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, in the Mountainlair.

Last year, about 3,500 students logged on to cast a ballot, Gudzune said. This year, the SGA is aiming for 5,000 students, or about 20 percent of the student body.

The SGA election is the best way for students to have their voices heard on campus, she said. Many candidates have platforms that provide many improvement options for the University. Students can decide for themselves which ones theyd like to see implemented and vote accordingly.
