Walking enthusiasts have until Wednesday, Feb. 2, toGet into the Spring of Things.

Thats the deadline to register for the spring walking program at West Virginia UniversityStudent Recreation Center. The program runs from Sunday, Feb. 6, and will continue through Tuesday, April 26. Both members and non-members may participate.

“We designed this program to help people remain true to their New Years resolutions,”said Sherri Restauri, program manager.Its also intended to reward everyone for walking just one mile a day.

Participants will be asked to walk a total of 75 miles during the program. Like WVU s holiday walking program, there will be drawings coinciding with certain spring holidays to help keep walkers on track. For example, the first drawing will be on Valentines Day, and participants will need to log 9 miles by that date and leave their drawing card at a designated area near the front desk to be eligible to win.

Those who complete the program will be eligible to participate in a grand prize drawing for a gas grill or $150 gift card from Lowes.

Members and non-members are encouraged to participate as the Rec Center is dedicated to the Universitys efforts to increase wellness across campus and the community,Restauri said.Wed even like to see teams and departmental competitions.

Registration fees are $5 for members, $10 for non-members who do not use the Rec Center track and $25 for non-members who use the Rec Center facilities.
