The Political Science Department in West Virginia Universitys Eberly College of Arts and Sciences has fared well in the latestGlobal Ranking of Political Science Departments.

WVUs research program is ranked 124 th among the worlds 200 elite political science programs. This position places it in a tie with Brown University and rates it higher than such prestigious international institutions as St. Andrews ( United Kingdom), Simon Fraser ( Canada), Uppsala ( Sweden), Vienna, Ulster ( United Kingdom) and Carleton ( Canada).

WVU also ranks ahead of American programs at Texas Tech, William and Mary, Boston University, the University of Nebraska, Iowa State University, the University of Florida, the University of Connecticut and others.

This latest ranking of the department is particularly gratifying because it is a global ranking and is based on the research productivity of the faculty,said Allan Hammock, chairman.

It is a significant achievement and a high honor to be ranked among some of the best colleges and universities not only in the United States, but throughout the world,he added.

The ranking is based on a study of faculty publication in 63 national and international journals.
