West Virginia Universitys Community Music Program is currently registering students for spring classes at the Creative Arts Center.
The program offers private lessons for children and adults in piano, organ, voice, brass, woodwind, percussion, strings, guitar, jazz singing, improvisation, harp, theory and composition, and the Alexander Technique.
Child Development Classes includeMusic for Babies, Explore and Enjoy(ages 2 to 3) andMusicland Express I and II(ages 4 to 6).
A new class this year isCroon a Tune,a fun, informal voice class for adults who want to explore the techniques involved in singing songs from musical theatre and popular music of the 1930s through the 1960s. Additional classes include a six-week Introductory Harp Class, eight-week Alexander Technique Group Class, Suzuki Violin and Music Theory I and II.
Learn the art of ensemble making in any of the programs ensembles, including the Community Arts Orchestra (junior high to adult), Flute Ensemble (junior high to adult) and Steel Band Ensemble (ages 9 to adult). The Community Arts Youth Choir is cancelled for the spring semester, but will be held again in the fall of 2005.
