Sergio Soave, chair of the Division of Art in the College of Creative Arts at West Virginia University, is one of the artists whose works are featured in the Artists Image Resource (AIR) Annual Projects Exhibition in Pittsburgh that runs through Jan. 15.

In addition to Soave, the 2004 artists AIR invited to be resident project artists are James Duesing, Emory Kiko and Mary Tremonte, all of Pittsburgh.

Each year, AIR provides the opportunity for four to eight professional artists working in a variety of media to create new print-related work. Projects range from the creation of a suite of original prints (relief, intaglio, lithographs or screenprints) to larger installations or sculptural works that incorporate print-related elements or methodologies.

AIR provides each artist with access to printmaking equipment, supplies, facilities, materials and technical support needed to create a new body of work.

A native of Windsor, Ontario, Soave is professor of printmaking at WVU , in addition to serving as chair of the Division of Art. He received a master of fine art degree from WVU in 1987. His computer works, lithographs, etchings and silkscreen prints have been included in more than 100 invitational and juried regional, national and international exhibitions, as well as numerous solo or two-person showings. His works also are included in many public and private collections.

Artists Image Resource is located at 518 Foreland St. on Pittsburghs north side, one block north of East Ohio Street between James and Middle Streets. Exhibition hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and by appointment. For more information, or to make an appointment, call (412) 321-8664.
