Buckle up or pay the piper.

Officers with West Virginia Universitys Department of Public Safety will conduct a seat belt checkpoint from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, on Evansdale Drive as part of theClick It or Ticketpublic awareness campaign.

The officers will be passing out literature about seat belt safety and checking to make sure motorists and their passengers are buckled up, said Officer Richard McGee.

Those who aren’t will be pulled over and issued a $10 citation they can pay at the WVU parking office in the University Services Center, McGee added.

TheClick It or Ticketprogram is a part of the Governors Highway Safety Program to encourage motorists to buckle up before they hit the roads. In recent years DPS has been recognized for its outstanding participation in the public safety program.
