Cadets in West Virginia Universitys Army and Air Force ROTCs will participate in special Veterans Day ceremonies Thursday, Nov. 11.

Cadets from both programs will attend an 11 a.m. ceremony outside the Monongalia County Courthouse and march in a 6:30 p.m. parade down High Street. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 548 is sponsoring both events.

We always help out with the Veterans Day program, said Lt. Col. Robert Lazzell II, an assistant professor of military science in the Army ROTC program. Were honored to be part of it.

Our cadets look forward to participating and observing the memory of the veterans, added Capt. Rocco Blasi, Lazzells counterpart in the Air Force ROTC .

There are about 100 contracted cadets in Army ROTC and 95 cadets in Air Force ROTC .

WVU s presence does not end with ROTC s involvement.

Lazzells father, retired Army Col. and WVU alumnus Robert E. Lazzell, will be the guest speaker during the morning program. In a 33-year military career, Lazzell served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam and was wounded in each conflict. He earned a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from WVU in 1950.
