The sixth man will get to start when the John Beilein 3-on-3 Classic takes center court at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at West Virginia Universitys Student Recreation Center.

The top two mens and womens teams will play their final games during halftime of the WVU mens basketball teams first home exhibition game against the University of PanAmerica at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, in the WVU Coliseum. The finalists will also receive official Mountaineer basketball practice gear.

I always like to put the students first at the University, said Beilein, head coach of the mens basketball squad. They are our sixth man, and I want to connect with them and thank them for their support of our basketball program.

Four-person teams can register at the front desk of the Student Recreation Center until Wednesday, Nov. 3. A registration booth will also be available in the Mountainlair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28. There is a $20 entrance fee at the time of registration.

All participating teams will receive an event t-shirt and the opportunity to mingle with and play before Beilein and members of the basketball team.

Our long-term hope is that this event continues and may one day include community teams as well, said Sherri Restauri, Recreation Center program manager. It would be great if we could turn this into a fund-raiser for an organization of Coach Beileins choice.

Beilein added that this type of event is huge at other Division I schools, especially the new Big East teams, and that he would like to see this tournament expand the already-impressive school spirit this University has.
