West Virginia Universitys student-run radio station, U92 , will kick off aradiothonat noon Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the Mountainlair to benefit Mon County Habitat for Humanity. The goal is to raise $55,000, or the cost of one new house.

U92 is proud to be partnering with Habitat for Humanity for the first time,said General Manager Kim Harrison.Habitat is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building and renovating homes for local families. Since it was established in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International has built more than 150,000 houses worldwide.

During the fund-raiser, U92 personalities Matt Fedorko and Nathan Miller will stay on the air for 60 consecutive hours, she said. The radiothon will feature live musical performances, free giveaways and interviews with Habitat founder Millard Fuller, families, volunteers, University representatives and others who have participated in Habitat for Humanity.

To donate, call 304-293-3329 to make a credit card pledge; cash and check donations may be dropped off at the U92 studios in the Mountainlair. Checks should be made payable to Mon County Habitat for Humanity.

Plans are to use the money to build a home on Jersey Avenue in the Jerome Park area of Sabraton, said Melissa Cavanagh with Mon County Habitat for Humanity. WVU s Habitat group and other student organizations will lend a helping hand with the project.
