West Virginia Universitys Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity will ring the bell of the Armored Cruiser USS West Virginia at noon Friday, Sept. 10, to honor the recent passing of Christopher Ryan Brumfield, a 21-year-old fourth-year biology major from Laurel, Md.

According to police, he was fatally shot in an apparent homicide on Aug. 16 in Laurel. The investigation is ongoing.

Christopher is the son of Ledell Brumfield-Campbell and Michael Hodges. He was a graduate of Laurel High School and an avid sports fan who loved the outdoors.

His family said he enjoyed volunteering at a local homeless shelter in his hometown on school breaks and dreamed of owning his own family medical practice.
