West Virginia University will host the annual Study Abroad Fair Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. 4 p.m. in the WVU Mountainlair Gold Ballrooms.

The fair offers initial contacts and information that lead WVU students to other countries for study courses, according to officials in the WVU Office of International Programs (OIP), which administers study abroad. Some 400 WVU students traveled abroad during the 2003-2004 academic year.

Seventeen faculty-led spring and summer courses are planned as well as 26 WVU study abroad exchanges. Representatives of 15 external organizations will be on hand to discuss other overseasacademic options.

Table displays will feature videotapes, brochures and catalogues. Local travel agencies and University staff will provide information on financial aid, air travel, health insurance, foreign health conditions and cultural situations.

The WVU study abroad network is worldwide. The University offers programs and exchanges in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Cuba, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Trinidad-Tobago, Turkey and Wales.

Faculty-led spring break and summer programs offer from three to six credits. Meanwhile, study abroad affiliates provide students with flexibility in finding other courses that meet degree requirements. Among affiliates are the Center for International Studies, offering programs in Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Ireland, Italy and Great Britain; and, the American Institute for Foreign Study, which runs programs in Argentina, Austria, Czech Republic, Holland, Poland and Russia.
