Every vote counts .

Its a message West Virginia University student L.J. Ulrich hopes doesnt get lost on students who are turned off by politics.

Ulrich, a public relations major and president of the WVU Young Democrats, announced the student group is mounting a three-day voter registration campaign to remind students to make their voices heard on Election Day.

In the 2000 presidential election, only half of the 18-to-24-year-olds were registered to vote, he noted, and only 36 percent of that age group actually voted.

Beginning today (Wednesday) through Friday (Sept. 1-3), members of the Young Democrats will be walking around and talking to students in the Mountainlair and outside, weather permitting,Ulrich said.We hope to conjure up some enthusiasm and end the apathy that lingers on campus.

The push to get students to vote is not just limited to the Young Democrats, he added. Other student organizations are also doing their part.

Voter registration forms are available at popular campus hangoutsthe Mountainlair (front desk), residence halls, Student Organization Services and the Student Recreation Centerin addition to the Office of Admissions and Records; College of Creative Arts; College of Engineering and Mineral Resources; Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences; and the Health Sciences Center.
