Soprano Janis-Rozena Peri of the West Virginia University music faculty will present a recital at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A) of the Creative Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Performing with Peri will be faculty members Jack Crotty, piano, and Curtis Johnson, saxophone. The recital will feature works by Bach, Mompou, Debussy, Berg, Chabrier, Edwards, Price and others.

The program will also include Elwood Derr’sI Never Saw Another Butterfly,a song cycle for soprano, alto saxophone, and piano on poems by children who were incarcerated in the Nazi ghetto for Jews in Terezin, Czechoslovakia (1942-1944), and who died in Auschwitz before the end of October 1944.

Peri specializes in the works of American composers, particularly those of women. Her CD of works by the noted composer Zenobia Powell Perry was released in December 2002.
