The 2004 State Fair will kick off Friday, Aug. 13, with the themeMore Cluck for Your Buck!The annual celebration runs through Sunday, Aug. 22, in Fairlea in Greenbrier County.

WVU will follow the fair’s theme with its own theme,WVU: An EGG -straordinary University.More than 20 colleges, academic departments and other units will be represented in the WVU Mountaineer Country Tent.

At the WVU School of Journalism booth, take a closer look into the Library of CongressVeterans History Project, which WVU students have been working on the past year. Then, ask WVU Extended Learning to help you find out more about your ancestors through its genealogy display.

Join Jeopardy fans at the WVU National Research Center for Coal and Energy section. Youll find fans enjoying the opportunity to test their knowledge of coal, energy and WVU by playing the Xtreme Coal Question Challenge. The first-place winner will receive a Mountaineer Gift Card.

Again this year, NRCCE has something fun and educational for the younger crowd: Kids can learn about mining byminingchocolate chip cookies.

Like prizes? Fair-goers also have the opportunity to win great WVU merchandise by answering trivia questions about WVU during Institutional Advancements Mountaineer Spin Game. IA will be organizing giveaways of WVU items as well.

WVU s very own Mountaineer, Derek Fincham, will also be at the State Fair to share his WVU pride.
