The National Capital Area Chapter of the West Virginia University Alumni Association recently made a contribution to the association.

The chapter donated $2,500 to support the organizations efforts, including the exploration of a new facility for alumni and friends.

We are proud to support the WVU Alumni Association,said Carol Wallace, president of the National Capital Area Chapter.Each year, the WVU Alumni Association reaches out to the more than 158,000 alumni to provide important programs and services. We hope our contribution will enable them to continue to offer these valuable services.

The check was presented to Jim Fagan, chair of the WVU Alumni Associations board of directors, at the State of the University Address on Capitol Hill earlier this year. The chapter hosts the event each year for West Virginias congressional delegation, alumni and friends.

We want to thank the National Capital Area Chapter for their generous contribution,Fagan said.During the next year, we will be embarking on a number of important initiatives. Because of the strong support of the National Capital Area Chapter and our alumni chapters across the country, we are able to extend our reach to provide networking and mentoring opportunities, scholarships and other important services that benefit the University, our alumni and friends.

The WVU Alumni Association, chartered in 1873, represents more than 158,000 University graduates residing in every county in West Virginia, every state in the nation and approximately 60 other countries. With nearly 100 registered chapters and constituent groups, the Associations 26,000 dues-paying members support Homecoming Weekend, the WVU Academy of Distinguished Alumni and dozens of other social and philanthropic programs.
