Three WVU Extension agents and a WVU student who serves as a 4-H volunteer camping assistant will return Saturday, July 31, from Romania, where they have been meeting with peers to explore the possibility of developing an exchange program for professionals and youths from both countries.

The participating agents are Nila Cobb of Cabell County, Shanna Dick of Jefferson County and Doug Hovatter of Berkeley County. The student is Rebecca Flint, a WVU senior from Preston County.

The four have been meeting with a comparable group from the New-Horizons Foundation (NHF), a Romanian organization that sponsors summer camping programs and yearround youth development programs. A delegation from Romania will visit West Virginia next summer.

During the first trips, the Extension and NHF representatives will share information about their programs and assess the feasibility of building a sustainable, mutually beneficial exchange program. Members of Extensions recently formed Global Education Task Force will be involved in establishing such a program.

The WVU Office of International Programs covered most expenses of the current trip.
