Students tired of waiting in line for home football game tickets will soon have a new and easy way to register. With West Virginia Universitys soon-to-be-implemented online ticket distribution system, students will be able to log on towww.wvugame.comand register for tickets with the simple click of a mouse.

Once the system goes live at midnight on Aug. 29, currently enrolled, athletic-fee paying students logging in for the first time will use their MIX ID and personal password given to them the first time they visit the site. Students will have the opportunity to change their password once they log in.

Students will then be asked to select a ticket in one of the following areas: Maniacs (for fee-paying Maniac members in good standing), Senior Spirit Section 121 (for students who have achieved senior status of 89 plus credit hours or who are graduate or professional students), or Upper Deck or Lower Deck (open to all students).

“Thepreviousticketingsystemwasnot the most convenientforourstudents, said Mary Collins, executive director for student affairs.Students often had to stand in long lines and rearrange their schedules to get tickets. The online system will offer our students 24-hour convenience through safe Internet access, the ability to print their own tickets (and reprint them if lost or damaged), purchase and print guest tickets and track and manage their attendance history.

Registration for each home game will begin six days prior to kick-off at midnight, and remain open for two days. Note the following schedule:

Following this initial two-day registration period, students will receive an e-mail notifying them that they have been awarded a ticket and how to claim/print it within the claim period.

After this two-day claim period, additional students who desire to attend the game can claim any available tickets during the print-on-demand period up until kick-off on game day.

Students may also purchase one guest ticket, if available, for $30 during the print-on-demand period. Guest ticket sales will depend on availability.

Students who claim a ticket, but later decide not to attend must cancel their ticket online by noon the day before kick-off to avoid losing loyalty points.

Loyalty points are accumulated by registering and attending games; loyalty distribution is initiated only when the demand for tickets exceeds the supply.

On game day, students merely present their ticket along with valid student ID to gain admission to the stadium. Tickets are non-transferable and can only be used by the student who originally registered for the ticket.

WVU s Student Government Association endorsed the online ticketing plan in April prior to the conclusion of the spring semester. Since that time, Student Affairs and Athletic Department officials have continued to work with student focus groups to finalize the policy, Collins noted.

Full details about how to request and claim tickets will be available to students on the MIX or a link off the current student page (http://www.wvu.edu/CurrentStudents/) before the start of the fall semester. Those with suggestions or questions may contact vpstudentaffairs@mail.wvu.edu .
