MORGANTOWN , W.Va. �€Mark D. Fullen has been selected as the program leader of Safety and Health Extension (S&HE), which is part of the WVU Extension Service. The appointment was effective July 16.

Since 1998, Fullen has worked for Extension as a construction safety and health specialist and clinical instructor. He has been co-principal investigator for the Fall-Safe project, in which he and others have worked with owners and safety directors at small- and medium-size construction companies to reduce the number of falls by workers.

At WVU , Fullen has also developed and taught safety and health classes for workers, managers, business owners and WVU employees. In 2002, he taught safety classes as an adjunct faculty member in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and in the Fairmont State College School of Technology.

Im pleased to announce that such a qualified person has accepted the program leader position,said Larry Cote, associate provost for Extension and Public Service, citing Fullens 10-year track record in the occupational safety and health field.

Before joining WVU , Fullen served as safety director for Orders Construction Company Inc. in St. Albans and as safety engineer for Morrison Knudsen Corp. in Marcus Hook, Pa., and Belpre, Ohio.

As SH&E program leader, he will be in charge of such programs as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Education Center; Small Business Safety Outreach; Asbestos, Lead and Hazardous Waste Worker Training, and Fall-Safe.

Fullen earned a B.S. degree in safety engineering technology from Fairmont State College in 1992 and an M.S. degree in occupational safety and health and industrial hygiene from Murray State University in 1994. He is currently a doctoral student in WVU s technology education program.

He is married to Jennifer Fullen, an assistant professor of behavioral medicine and psychiatry at WVU .
