The National Environmental Services Center (NESC) at West Virginia University will celebrate 25 years of environmental service to small communities with an open house July 26.

NESC traces its roots to 1979, when professors Willem Van Eck and Raul Zaltzman established the National Small Flows Clearinghouse in order to assist small wastewater systems. Since that time, NESC has grown to become a national expert, not just in wastewater, but in drinking water, environmental training, infrastructure security, and utility management.

We are proud to celebrate our silver anniversary, says John Mori, NESC executive director. As we reach this milestone, its important to remember that a commitment to Americas small and rural communities is what founded this organization and what continues to drive it today. Weve made great strides but theres still much important work to be done.

The open house will be held July 26 from 3-5 p.m. in the Assembly Rooms at the NRCCE building on WVU s Evansdale Campus.

NESC helps small and rural communities with their water, wastewater, management, infrastructure security, and solid waste challenges. To learn more about NESC , call 800-624-8301 or visithttp://www.nesc.wvu.edu.
