Cellist William Skidmore of the West Virginia University Division of Music will present his 26 th faculty recital at the Creative Arts Center Sunday, May 2.

The program begins at 8:15 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A) and is free and open to the public.

Joining Professor Skidmore on the program will be Dorothy Skidmore, flutist, and Carol Beall, pianist.

They will perform Sonata in F Major for Piano and Cello by Ludwig van Beethoven, Sonata in E Major by Johann Sebastian Bach, and the Sonata in F Major, Op. 99, of Johannes Brahms.

Skidmore has performed a recital almost annually at the CAC since joining the music faculty in 1977. As professor of cello, he is coach of the resident graduate string quartet and other chamber groups, and coordinator of the string department. He has presented numerous concerts throughout the eastern United States, including performances at the National Gallery of Art, Phillips Collection, The Kennedy Center and the MTNA National Convention in Louisville. As a chamber music artist, he has been a member of the Maryland Trio, the Baltimore Symphony String Quartet, and the American Arts Trio. He has been a member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, cellist with the West Virginia Symphonette and principal cellist of the Ohio Valley Symphony.
