* WHAT :* WVU Entrepreneurship Center Business Plan Competition
* WHEN :* 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 24
* WHERE :* Eberly Auditorium, Room 15, ground floor, Life Sciences Building
* DETAILS :* Five student teams will present business plans to an audience and panel of judges as they compete for $10,000 with which to start their own business. The proposed businesses range from K. Lianna Accessory Design, which will produce unique fashion purses for sale in major retail stores, to Youth Sport Enrichment Corp., which will construct and operate a year-round indoor soccer facility.
In November, a panel of judges selected the five finalist teams from 36 student teams that had submitted their business concepts. During the spring semester, these five teams developed full-blown business plans for their ideas.
Presentations will begin shortly after 9 a.m. and finish about 1 p.m. Following lunch, awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m.
* SPONSOR :* The WVU Entrepreneurship Center is under the leadership of Russell Sobel, associate professor of economics. The business plan competition is part of three main areas of focus for the center: curriculum and educational programs, academic and applied research, and outreach and service programs.
