The West Virginia University Concert Band, a 70-piece ensemble comprised of music majors and non-majors, will perform a spring concert at the Creative Arts Center Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13.

The program will featureMarche Hongroisefrom Damnation of Faust by Hector Berlioz;Octoberby Eric Whitacre;Portrait of a Cityby Philip Spark;Sinfonia Vby Timothy Broege; highlights fromThe King and Iby Richard Rodgers;The Mad Major Marchby Kenneth J. Alford; andCave of the Windsby Russell Peck.

The Concert Band is directed by WVU Associate Director of Bands John Hendricks, who also directs the WVU Mountaineer Marching Band. Guest conductors will be WVU Director of Bands Don Wilcox, Professor and Chair of Music David Bess, and music graduate student Nikki Gross.

Members of the Concert Band are selected each semester by audition. The students learn and perform standard and contemporary band literature.
