West Virginia University flute student and former Morgantown resident Laurel Ewell will present a doctoral recital at the College of Creative Arts Sunday, March 28, at 3 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Recital Hall (Room 200A). The event is free and open to the public.

Ewell will be joined by her husband, former WVU music faculty member Dr. Terry Ewell, on bassoon. The Ewells relocated to Towson, Md., in 2000, where Terry Ewell is professor of music and chair of the Department of Music at Towson University.

The program will includeNight Whispers,a work for flute and bassoon, composed for the Ewells by Baltimore composer Jonathan Leshnoff. The composition was premiered at the International Double Reed Conference in Greensboro, N.C., in June 2003.
