Bright lights and festive carols are always among the first harbingers of the holidays, including West Virginia University’s holiday season, which officially launches Monday, Dec. 1, at 6:30 p.m. with the 16th annual Woodburn Hall lighting ceremony.

Hardesty and Student Government Association President Charlie Battleson will offer holiday greetings. A patient from WVU Children’s Hospital will assist Mountaineer Parents Club Chair Susan Hardesty with turning on the switch that will illuminate approximately 7,000 miniature lights outlining Woodburn Hall, WVU ’s second oldest building.

The University High School choir will perform holiday favorites.

At 7 p.m. following the light-up festivities, a reception will be held in the lobby of E. Moore Hall. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

Woodburn will remain lit until Tuesday, Jan. 20.
