In a couple of weeks, most families across West Virginia will sit down to Thanksgiving feasts of turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. But for others, they’ll have no turkey dinner. Whether devastated by a tragedy, the economy or just plain bad luckthey don’t know where their next meal will come from.

The news staff at U92 , West Virginia University’s campus radio station, is asking the WVU and Morgantown communities to think of those less fortunate this holiday and give to the U92 Food Drive.

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday (Nov. 19-20), students will be collecting nonperishable boxed and canned goods in the Mountainlair.

“This food drive can’t be successful without your help,”said Kim Harrison, U92 general manager.”So, raid your pantries and pick up a few extra items the next time you go to the grocery store.”

The goal of the U92 Food Drive is to enable area food banks to provide enough food for the holidays and difficult months ahead.

“This is part of U92 ’s continuing effort to give back to the community,”Harrison said.”We understand that the need isn’t just there during this time of year but all year long, so this will hopefully become something we do more than once a year.”
