Pianist Christine Kefferstasn of the WVU music faculty will present a recital at the WVU Creative Arts Center Saturday, Nov. 15, at 8:15 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A). The event is free and open to the public.

The program will feature Sonata in G, K. 547 and also Sonata in B-flat, K. 551 by Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757); Fantasy in f minor, Op. 49 by Frederic Chopin (1810-1849); Images Book I and Images Book II by Claude Debussy (1862-1918); and Spanish Rhapsody by Franz Liszt (1811-1886).

Kefferstan, who is professor of piano in the Division of Music, maintains an active performing career as a soloist, chamber musician and concerto soloist. A graduate of the College-Conservatory of Cincinnati, she studied with Israeli pianist David Bar-Illan and has had additional coaching with Russian pianists Sedmara Rutstein and Viachaslov Gabrielov. Named Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the West Virginia Music Teachers Association, she has spent many years devoted to the nurturing of young pianists and is currently on the National Foundation Board for the Music Teachers National Association.
