West Virginia University President David C. Hardesty Jr. is among 30 leaders from the nations top higher education institutions participating in a university leadership conference in North Carolina.

Hardesty commented on a presentation Monday (Oct. 27) as part of the Smith Richardson Forum on Effective University Leadership. The two-day forum, sponsored by Wake Forest University and the Center for Creative Leadership, is one of three held over the past two months.

The forum, which concludes today (Oct. 28), offers university presidents a chance to develop their professional skills and share leadership strategies in face-to-face exchanges. The program consists of presentations by three university presidents, responses from other higher education leaders and a discussion among all participants.

A book containing the essays of the presenters and summaries of the responderscomments will be forthcoming.
