Classes stressing you out? Take a break from your homework and join your friends for a night of poetry and music.

The President’s Office for Social Justice at West Virginia University is hosting the DEF Poetry Jam from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the Towers Jean Benson Lounge on the Evansdale Campus as part of Diversity Week.

The Poetry Jam will begin with a musical performance followed by alternating poetry readings and musical performances. The tentative line-up includes 10 poets and six musicians.

“The DEF Poetry Jam is a perfect place to soothe your soul and body from the stress of school and work,”says Bina Setyawati, a Diversity Week organizer.

The event is designed to celebrate students’work and to encourage participants to think and live creatively. Audience members may be invited to read their own poetrytime permitting.

Free pizza and refreshments will be provided by the President’s Office for Social Justice. Freshmen: This event meets part of University 101 requirements.
