Students in West Virginia Universitys College of Business and Economics are giving away $25,000 again this year and are looking for nonprofit agencies in Monongalia County to receive shares of the money.
The students are taking a management class called the Corporate Citizen Project. In the class, they learn by struggling with decisions that have real consequences in their communityand by giving away $25,000 to help community organizations.

Last year the class solicited proposals for projects that would benefit the greater Morgantown community, developed a set of criteria for judging them and chose the winners from among more than 30 proposals.
Grant recipients were Casa For Kids (recruit/train volunteers); Hospice Care (provide three-day camp for bereaved children); In Touch and Concerned (transportation); Literacy Volunteers of Mon/Preston (matching funds for purchase of learning materials); Rape and Domestic Violence Center (playground for women/children); Sundale Nursing Home (virtual dementia tour training for staff, volunteers and students); Taylor County Humane Society (spay/neuter program); The Advocacy Project (operating expenses, equipment); and Wadestown Community Resource Center (walk-in freezer for food bank).
