Paying your tuition and student housing bills at West Virginia University just got a little easier thanks to a new online payment system and interactive voice response systemplus a temporary call center set up to answer questions and concerns about bills, payment methods and refund checks.

Students can pay by credit card or electronic check by logging onto the STAR system at http://www.mix.wvu.eduand entering their MIX username and password and following the instructions. Paying by phone can be accomplished by calling 1-888-988-4487 or 304-293-2892 and choosing the appropriate options for billing information, balances or payment by credit card.

If these methods arent successful or students and parents have questions about their bills, just call 304-293-4006 Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. through mid-September. Seventeen new temporary employees were recently hired and trained to help students and parents through the payment process; direct them to other payment methods such as installments, mail and campus drop boxes; and answer questions about financial aid refund checks.

Provided all financial aid requirement are met, refund checks will be mailed by the first week of school (Aug. 18) to local addresses; therefore, students are reminded to update their local mailing address online via the STAR system or in person.

Questions about Housing assignments, Dining Services and other student life areas may need to be directed to other offices, however.

Student Accounts staff will also be available in the ballrooms of the Mountainlair for Student Services Days Friday, Saturday and MondayAug. 15, 16 and 18from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Monday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday to assist students in completing their financial arrangements.

Students are reminded that a late payment fee goes into effect Aug. 18, and the last day to register for fall semester classes is Aug. 22.

Students should use their Mountaineer Card as their official student identification.
