More than 30,000 copies of the West Virginia University Presss fall 2003 catalog will be mailed this week. The new catalog features a variety of items including history, fiction and photography books as well as music from West Virginia.

New to the catalog this year is award-winning photographer Jim Clarks Mountain Memories: An Appalachian Sense of Place, a large,startlingly beautifulphotography book that features over 200 full-color photographs of breathtaking images of wild, wonderful West Virginia, according to Press director Patrick Conner.

Also new to the catalog is Screaming with the Cannibals, the much anticipated sequel to Lee Maynards cult classic, Crum. In the opening of this new novel, the main character finds himself in an evangelical service in Kentucky, screaming with thecannibals(a reference from Crum), and his adventures take off from there.

Another new release is Pinnick Kinnick Hill: An American Story, by G. W. Gonzalez, a native West Virginian and son of Spanish immigrants. The book, which has been published in facing-page English and Spanish, recounts the lives of the hundreds of families from Spain that settled in Harrison County at the beginning of the 20th century to search for the American dream.

In addition, the catalog features the newest release in the WVU Press Sound Archive series called Work and Pray: Historic Negro Spirituals and Work Songs from West Virginia. The CD features field recordings from southern West Virginia recorded from 1949-1953 along with a booklet providing the historical context for the work.

The catalog also contains information on the dozens of other books and CDs available from the Press.
