West Virginia University students have until Tuesday, July 1, to register for the second session of summer courses. The session is July 1 through Aug. 8.

“Many classes still have openings, including the very popular Web courses,”said Lynn Reinke, director of communications for Extended Learning.”Weve added numerous classes since the schedule was printed, so students should check out the listings atwww.arc.wvu.edu/courses.”

WVU is offering more than 2,000 summer courses on-campus, off-campus and on the Web. Summer courses provide students with an opportunity to meet core curriculum requirements, earn additional credit hours or improve their grade-point average.

Students are apparently taking advantage of the opportunities summer courses afford, Reinke said. As of mid-June, some 6,631 students were taking courses during the first session that concludes this week, and another 5,317 have enrolled for the second session, for a total enrollment of 11,948. That is an 8.7 percent increase from last years total summer enrollment of 10,994.

WVU continues to enroll students throughout the summer in a variety of courses, particularly those off-campus, Reinke added.
