Come support the U.S. troops overseas by dancing the night away at a”Support the Troops”benefit dance at Lakeview Resort and Conference Center on Friday, June 6. Doors open at 7 p.m. and dancing begins at 8 p.m.

“This event is a positive way to respond to the war in Iraq,”said Ann Devine-King, MS. PT.”It sends an important message to our troops that the folks and communities back home are behind them, appreciate them and care about them. And it should be a fun, social event for those attending.”

The band, Subway, will provide music for the evening’s festivities. A cash bar and free finger foods will be available throughout the evening.

The event is being organized by HealthSouth MountainView Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in conjunction with the American Red Cross with assistance by the WVU Red Cross Club and Alpha Phi Omega.

Courtney Caswell, a pre-pharmacy major, is coordinating the WVU Red Cross Club’s participation in the event, and Erin Blake, a public relations major, is heading Alpha Phi Omega’s efforts. Both students are from Morgantown.

“It is a big boost to get volunteer help from the WVU Red Cross Club and from Alpha Phi Omega.”Devine-King commented.”This will be a fun-filled evening of dancing and entertainment with the proceeds going to a very worthy cause.”

The goal is to raise a minimum of $5,000 for our service men and women, Devine-King said.

Money generated will go directly to support the troops and their families and will be distributed through the Mountain Laurel Chapter of the American Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services Program.

Tickets are available at any HealthSouth location in Morgantown or Fairmont for a donation of $15 per person, payable to”MountainView Support the Troops Fund.”Tickets will also be sold at the door, if still available.

Prior to the dance, door prizes will be given and a 50/50 raffle will take place. Casual attire is appropriate.
