West Virginia University’s student radio station, WWVU -FM, recently recognized outstanding student broadcasters during its annual awards picnic.

The following awards, voted on by the radio station’s student staff members, were presented:

  • Broadcaster of the Year Matt Fedorko, a senior English major from Moatsville
  • DJ of the Year Nathan Miller, a senior English major from Kingwood
  • Rookie DJ of the Year Doug Lilly, a sophomore general studies major from Princeton
  • News Reporter of the Year Lisa Nida, a senior public relations major from Charleston
  • Rookie News Reporter of the Year Allison Latos, a pre-journalism freshman from Wheeling
  • Sports Reporter of the Year Rachel Olsen, a pre-journalism major from Belle Vernon, Pa.
  • Rookie Sports Reporter of the Year Matt Wells, a junior sport management major from Lake Hiawatha, N.J.

WWVU -FM has been on the air since 1982 and is a non-commercial, educational radio station dedicated to serving both the WVU and Morgantown communities as a teaching and training facility, while at the same time providing alternative programming to listeners.
