Students caught acting up this summer at West Virginia University are liable to receive course credit.

The Division of Theatre and Dance in WVU s College of Creative Arts is offering several summer courses to help students meet their credit hour requirements in liberal studies, Cluster A, said Margaret McKowen, chair.

A three-week introduction to theatre course will be offered during both summer sessions, McKowen said.

“This is one of the more popular Cluster A courses on campus and is filled with exciting films, plays and other interesting assignments guaranteed to make this introduction to theatre an enjoyable required class,”she said.

Students interested more in”lights, camera, action”might consider taking a three-week acting for non-majors course, McKowen said. This course, offered during the first summer session, also fulfills Cluster A requirements.

Another Summer Session I offering is world theatre, a three-week course with an instructor who plays drums, dances and brings the multi-cultural theatre to life, she said. The offering fulfills both Cluster A and foreign culture, minority and gender studies requirements.

Meanwhile, the art of film, to be offered during the second summer session, is a popular elective among students from various majors, she added.
