The West VirginiaUniversityCenter for Womens Studies is accepting proposals for the Judith Gold Stitzel Endowment for Excellence in Womens Studies Teaching and Learning. The endowment supports faculty who integrate womens studies scholarship into the fabric of teaching and learning.
The fund was established to ensure a continuing and vital presence for womens studies as an academic discipline at WVU , and supports teaching and learning that is sensitive to gender and that places womens concerns, ideas, perspectives and interests as much at the center of the scholarly teaching enterprise as mens have been, officials say.
Examples include, but are not limited to, designing new courses and re-conceptualizing existing courses and course modules: instruction may be in traditional classroom settings or via electronic media. Project proposals that do not directly affect student learning, e.g., faculty curriculum workshops, are eligible when they support the goals of the endowment. One proposal will be funded for a maximum amount of $4,000.
The application deadline is March 12, and the form and further information are available athttp://www.as.wvu.edu/wmst/app_stitzel.htm. For more information, contact Barb Howe, director of the Center for Womens Studies, at
