The University Honors Program reminds students that application deadlines for honoraries are fast approaching. In fact, today (Feb. 14) is the final day to submit applications for Mortar Board, the senior honorary.


To qualify for Mortar Board candidates must be juniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher; need to have a minimum of 89 credit hours at the end of the Spring 2003 semester; and plan to graduate no earlier than December 2003 (a May 2004 graduation date is preferable).


Mortar Board applications require two recommendations�€one from a faculty member and a second from an extracurricular advisor.


Chimes, the junior honorary, and Helvetia, the sophomore honorary, are accepting applications until Friday, Feb. 21. To be eligible for Chimes, students need at least a 3.3 GPA and must have 59-88 hours by the end of the Spring 2003 semester.


Helvetia applicants must also have a minimum 3.3 GPA and 29-58 hours by the end of Spring 2003 semester.


Applications and Mortar Board Faculty/Extracurricular Advisor Recommendation forms are only available online athttp://www.honors.wvu.edu/honoraries.


Chimes and Mortar Board applicants must also submit a current transcript to the Honors Office located at 248 Stalnaker Hall.
