The West Virginia University Chamber Winds, under the direction of guest conductor Grant Cooper, will present a concert of very challenging and enjoyable chamber music at the CreativeArtsCenter, Monday, Feb. 17, at 8:15 p.m., in the Falbo Theatre.


Maestro Cooper is the new conductor and artistic director of the West Virginia Symphony in Charleston, W.Va., and a former conductor and teacher at IthacaCollege in New York. He will conduct the Chamber Winds ensemble in Stravinskys”Symphonies of Wind Instruments,”Reynaldo Hahns”Le Bal de Beatrice DEste”and Mozarts”Serenade No. 12 in C Minor.”


Professional harpist Christine Mazza will assist the group on the recital. The Chamber Winds ensemble is made up of some of the most talented musicians in the College of Creative Arts. The concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
