A year and seven months since opening, West VirginiaUniversitys StudentRecreationCenter is reaching a milestone.

The millionth customer will walk through the doors of the facility this month, said Sherri Restauri, program manager.

The lucky student will receive a prize package worth about $500, Restauri said. Prizes will include a palm pilot, MP3 player with case, WVU sweatshirt, WVU duffle bag, WVU Bookstore gift certificate, Morgantown Mall gift certificate, movie coupon book and dinner at Garfields.

There will also be cake and punch to celebrate the day, she added.

The StudentRecreationCenter opened July 17, 2001, on a 12-acre site within easy walking distance of the Evansdale Residential Complex, PRT station, CreativeArtsCenter and other Evansdale Campus buildings. Activities ranging from basketball and volleyball to weight-lifting, swimming and scaling a 50-foot climbing wall are available in the 170,000-square-foot facility.
