West Virginia University students will compete for funds they plan to donate to children with cancer during an upcoming”survive-a-thon”at the StudentRecreationCenter. The competition takes place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 8).
Activities will include three-on-three basketball, badminton and a walk-a-thon. Cost to compete is $10, and registration forms and sign-up booths will be available at the RecreationCenter throughout the week.
There also will be a concert and talent show on Sunday (Feb. 9) starting at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Mountainlair ballrooms. Several bands will be featured, including The New Relics, Skats Glass Eye and Nakd Jacob. Cost to attend the show is $5, and those who want to participate must pre-register and pay a $10 fee.
All funds will be donated to the WVU School of Medicine Pediatric Oncology Lab.
Originating in 1999 as the 24-hour WVU Dance Marathon,”survive-a-thon”is now a weekend of fun and competitive events.
