Veterinarian Richard F. Randle will deliver the John B. Peters Memorial Lecture at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in room 1001 of the AgriculturalSciencesBuilding on West Virginia Universitys Evansdale Campus. Dr. Randle, a veterinary ruminant health specialist with the University of Missouri, will speak on”Vaccines and Vaccinations: The Dilemma Continues.”The lecture is free and open to the public.


Randles research focuses on disease surveillance, beef production management as it relates to young stock development and quality assurance. His projects have addressed methodologies to improve development and reproductive performance of replacement beef and dairy females, along with continuing education, consultation and support to veterinary practitioners in reproductive management, awareness and education on emerging technologies, diagnostic support and management, food safety and biosecurity.


The memorial lecture honors the late John Burl Peters. Peters joined WVU s faculty in 1971 to take part in the Allegheny Highlands Project. In 1977, he joined the faculty of the Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Consumer Sciences in the Division of Animal and Veterinary Sciences while also serving as livestock specialist with WVU Extension. He died in 1980. His friends and family established the John Peters Memorial Fund through the WVU Foundation to carry on his work, bringing new information to farmers, students and faculty.
